Osama Bin Laden is dead, President Obama announced Sunday night, in a televised address to the nation. The U.S. is in possession of his body, a person familiar with the situation told the Associated Press late Sunday.
    Two senior counterterrorism officials confirmed to the Associated Press that bin Laden was killed in Pakistan last week. One said bin Laden was killed in a ground operation, not by a Predator drone. Both said the operation was based on U.S. intelligence, and both said the U.S. is in possession of bin Laden’s body.

According to state public health officials, the measurement was documented on March 18 through an air monitoring device. The harmless traces of radioactive iodine were also discovered at seven California locales outside of the county, along with tellurium-123 at a pair of those sites.
    Earlier in the week, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) officials
reported trace amounts of iodine-131, cesium-137 and tellurium-132 in
Anaheim, Riverside, San Francisco and Seattle.

Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich said Friday that President Obama had overstepped his constitutional authority with his recent decision to order his administration to stop defending the Defense of Marriage Act. While the move didn’t immediately open Obama up to impeachment, Gingrich claimed
    “I believe the House Republicans next week should pass a resolution
instructing the president to enforce the law and to obey his own
constitutional oath, and they should say if he fails to do so that they
will zero out [defund] the office of attorney general and take other
steps as necessary until the president agrees to do his job,” Gingrich
said.

When the new Congress convenes later this week, House Republicans are planning to break out the scalpel and cut their own spending by 5%.
    In the first quarter of 2010, the House shelled out almost $190,000 for bottled water. Over the same period, lawmakers spent more than $600,000 on food, according to data compiled by the Sunlight Foundation. They also spent $10.2 million on mail and $6.4 million on travel. The cuts will save $35 million, or 0.001% of the $3.5 trillion annual federal budget.
